After getting my degree in Philosophy, I knew it was time to follow my passion and
return to school to study wine. I joined the International Wine Guild and received
my level one and two certification. I am currently working towards my level 3
certification at the guild, and pursuing my passion working at Incredible Wine and
Spirits.
My favorite aspect of Wine is how it ties into world history. As an ancient art still
enjoyed today, I appreciate the way it has shaped history and history has shaped
it. The more unique a wine is, the more I appreciate it. If I open a new vintage
and it is a whole new/different experience, that’s the wine for me. I like to taste
and smell how the climate, geology, and winemaking practices shape a wine.
My favorite wines are the Reds of Burgundy, though I enjoy almost anything that
is well made and expressive of its style. I love the earthiness of Burgundy and
how the land is cut and shaped to work synergistically with the grapes. I also
have a love of Spanish Ports and Madeiras, they are perfect by the fire in Fall
and Winter. In the toasty summer heat I enjoy Vinho Verdes from Portugal and
Sparkling wines, especially Cremants.
I currently am the Spanish and Portuguese wine specialist. I enjoy the rich variety
this region has to offer. From sophisticated sparkling Cavas, to the rich reds of
Rioja, through the amazing collection of Sherrys, Madeiras, and Ports, this region
has an abundance of history and wines to complement it. Traditional wine and
food pairings also make this region special. Whether it is Sherry with your tapas,
or an amazing assortment of Spanish cheeses such as drunken goat (cheese
soaked in Port), there is always a mouth watering meal waiting for that perfect
glass. A less traditional, and one of my favorite pairings, is for Bual Madeira. I
like to pair it to a nice cigar like a Romeo Y Julieta and delve into Hemmingway’s
Death in the Afternoon.
