| July Belgian Beer Tasting |
| Our First Friday’s Belgian Beer Tasting will be held on the second Friday, July 11th, 3pm-7pm. First up at the plate is one that most of you may recognize. The Delirium Tremens from the Brouwerij Huyghe. Yes, that's right, the beer with the pink elephants named after a syndrome that, quite frankly, no one wants to talk about or experience. Anyway, this beautiful brew of golden straw comes in at 8.5% alcohol and, at first, starts out light and delicate with a somewhat grassy/honey quality texture. As it warms in the glass and on your palate, it travels into explosive bursts of orange and lemon zest with a hint of banana and an underlying clove bite. A wonderful distinct ale perfect for summer afternoons. $8.99 750ml Batting second is one of your Beer Manager's favorites. The Gulden Draak, or Golden Dragon from the Brouwerij Van Steenberge NV. A dark mahogany tripel with 10.5% alcohol this beer was crowned Best Beer in the World by the American Tasting Institute in 1998. Heavy in texture with no alcohol heat, this deep elixir is very malty with flavors of chocolate and dark fruits. A garden of sweet cherry, plums, and figs permeates through every sip with the slightest hint of bourbon rounding it out.
